Utah sheep herds are doing very well. A record number of transplants, good habitat conditions, and predator management are producing all time numbers of wild sheep herds for hunters and dreaming-to-be sheep hunters in Utah.

The Utah Chapter of FNAWS, the National FNAWS, and other state chapters have provided the funding and energy to assist Utah DWR in this historic effort. We will continue to do GREAT things for wild sheep and wild sheep hunters.

In my opinion, it is very disgraceful and disgusting that Dennis Campbell came into the FNAWS family, took fundraising ideas, and then has filed a $10 million plus law suit against FNAWS for infringement f the words “Grand Slam”*, a word that was used long before The Grand Slam Club came along, and long before Dennis Campbell.

Dennis’ litigation has caused in excess of over $500,000 in legal fees to be wasted – money that should ave gone into putting sheep on the mountain. In my opinion Dennis Campbell came on as a fellow FNAWS national board member, saw the funds being raised, earned our fundraising methods, “took” a lot of FNAWS members, and filed for “divorce”. f you want your ego stroked, go to Grand Slam Club. If you want to put sheep on the mountain, and hang ut with normal people, come to FNAWS.

I have never been involved in litigation, nor do I want to become so. I don’t know how the litigation will turn out, but so far the judge ruled FNAWS could use the words FNAWS Grand Slam, with a bunch of disclaimers. I refuse to be held hostage by an ego maniac.

So, from this point forward, Here are the terms that I will use to define sheep hunting:

  • One Ram: 1/4 Curl
  • Two Rams: 1/2 Curl
  • Three Rams: 3/4 Curl
  • Four Rams: Full Curl

Those are words I have used with my friends for a long time. It was a blast to be with Karl Malone, who I used to love kidding that he was just a little half curl, and in a two month period, he became a Full Curl. I was with another friend who took his first ram, a great Utah ram, and he is now a quarter curl. I will continue to use my talents, knowledge and resources to put sheep on the mountain, and help fellow heep hunters become a Full Curl one day, it is a worthy effort.

Look forward to seeing you all the the Hunting Expo, February 6–9, and at the UFNAWS Fundraiser-Banquet
April 12th, both in Salt Lake City.
